Long Term Financial Goals

In order to have a short term financial plan, I find it is easier for me to begin with the big picture. What do I want my finances to look like in 10 years…in 15 or 20 years?  This makes it easier for me to cut back to real life and plan for tomorrow.

Long Term Goals:

-Pay off House by 2020
-Have enough in 401ks and IRAs to retire without changing lifestyle (more on retirement later)
– Do not borrow money. Period. For any reason.

I know there are more goals in my mind and I will keep adding to the list, but for now, that is a lot for me to swallow.

Watch your Statements! – Or better yet, stop them?!

Yahoo released a news story this afternoon describing Bank of America’s change in fee policies and a big change in free checking.  Some customers will start to be billed for monthly statements and/or visiting a teller.  Read the article here.  Basically, if you still have a traditional bank account, watch your statement for charges for paper statements or bricks banking!   I’m not saying it will happen to you, just make sure you read your statement!  Or better yet, according to Band of America, log on to see your statement!
